Three Ways to Brew Chai at Home Three Ways to Brew Chai at Home

There is no right or wrong way to brew a chai, but there are a few things you can do to guarantee a perfect cup of tea every time. Read on and discover three simple methods for brewing the perfect chai at home.

Teapot Method

  1.  Add 1-2 tsp of Chai to your teapot (2 tsp if you like it strong) 
  2.  Add roughly 70ml of boiling water 
  3. Let your tea brew for roughly 3-4 minutes (or for as long as you can wait) 
  4. While you tea is brewing heat roughly 200ml of the milk of your choice, being careful not to boil.
  5. When milk is steaming hot, carefully pour into your teapot, and stir to combine.
  6. Add sweatener to taste (preferrably 1 tsp of honey or coconut sugar) 
  7. Strain into a cup, and enjoy! 

Stovetop Method

  1.  Add 100ml of filtered water and sweatener (preferrably 1 tsp of honey or coconut sugar) to a small saucepan, and bring to the boil.
  2.  Add 1-2 tsp of Chai to your teapot (2 tsp if you like it strong) and immediately remove from the heat.
  3. Let your tea brew for roughly 3-4 minutes (or for as long as you can wait) 
  4. Add 200ml of the milk of your choice, and return to the pot to the heat.
  5. Slowly bring the mixture up to temperature, stirring regulary. Being careful to avoid a boil over.
  6. Strain into a cup, and enjoy! 

Coffee Machine Method

  1.  Add 1-2 tsp of Chai into you milk jug (2 tsp if you like it strong) 
  2.  Add roughly 50ml of boiling water.
  3. Let your tea brew for roughly 3-4 minutes (longer the better) 
  4. Add sweatener to taste (preferrably 1 tsp of honey or coconut sugar)
  5. Top up the milk jug with roughly 200ml of the milk of your choice.
  6. Steam the milk and chai with the steam wand, being careful not to overheat the milk.
  7. Strain directly into a cup, and enjoy!
